约6公里长的隧道建设已于2012年动工，是香港-珠海-*大桥项目的一部分。中交第二、第四航务工程局有限公司共同承接了为该项目通过混凝土预制件的任务。对于长达约6公里的隧道来说，混凝土管片必须预制，工程为此设计了33个管片，每个管片长度为180米，每段需要27,000立方的混凝土，这意味着巨大的混凝土预制工程量。
